Gopal Basnett, the Managing Director of, Gangtok was conferred the Award of Excellence for Best Adventure Tour Operator for the year 2016 in a glittering function held at IHCAE, Chemchey on the occasion of World Tourism Day, 2016 on 27th September. The award came as recognition for his dedication and commitment towards tourism and his passion for service.
Adarsh Tours,Treks and Expeditions is only ten years old but it has managed to carve a niche for itself in the tourism industry. In 2015, he was awarded the Brands Academy Excellence Award in Bangalore for excellence in service in the ‘best inbound tour, trek and expedition Operator in Eastern India’ category. He was also awarded the Certificate of Excellence for Best Inbound Tour Operator/ Travel Agent by Sikkim Tourism, Government of Sikkim on World Tourism Day, 2015.
Gopal Basnett is one of the most promising youth in the present tourism industry of Sikkim. Apart from being a successful businessman, Gopal is also an active social worker who is involved with numerous community development projects in Sikkim. He believes that tourism can be a major tool for community development. Gopal is the Treasurer of Travel Agents Association of Sikkim (TAAS) and also a member of Rotary Club of Gangtok South.
He acknowledges that his friends and family and his team at Adarsh have been his source of constant support said that achievement also brings the responsibility to perform better and ensure. Gopal feels that Sikkim has tremendous potential in the tourism sector. He is deeply inspired by the visions and dreams of the Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling of making Sikkim the best state.
